Hyundai Arnejs
Kia's Cee'd production car and Hyundai's Arnejs near-production concept were designed in Germany to meet European tastes. The five-door hatchbacks will be built in the Korean carmakers' new factories in central Europe. They will challenge European brands' dominance of the hotly contested lower-medium segment, which is led by the Volkswagen Golf. The Arnejs concept previews the carmaker's design intention for the lower-medium vehicle it will build at its new €1 billion, 200,000-unit-a-year factory in Nosovice, Czech Republic. The Nosovice factory is 95km from Kia's Zilina, Slovakia, plant and is due to start production in 2008. Different positioning Kia and Hyundai promise different positioning for the cars, which will share a platform and many components. The Cee'd will attempt to appeal to drivers who want a sporty-looking car, while the Arnejs will be more upscale.
