Ford Fuel Cell Explorer
Ford examines another form of alternative energy with its hydrogen fuel cell Ford Explorer. The first prototype vehicle built by Ford for the U.S. Department of Energy uses a center-mounted hydrogen tank capable of delivering 350 miles on one fill-up, more than any other fuel cell vehicle today. The center-mounted fuel cell allows the Explorer to retain seating and cargo dimensions from the production vehicle. The fuel cell Explorer holds the world record for miles driven in a single day by a fuel cell vehicle of 1556 miles.
