Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon
After investing E900 million in the 159, Alfa was counting on the lower-premium car to reverse a three-year sales decline.
But quality problems and an incomplete engine range meant that the 159 sedan got off to a slow sales start following its launch in September.
The Italian carmaker hoped to sell 30,000 159 sedans in 2005 but sold only 14,000.
The Sportwagon station wagon should bring a much-needed sales boost. It goes on sale in March, completing the 159 lineup.
