Motorcars Honda named Cox Leader in Sustainability

CHICAGO -- Motorcars Honda was presented with Cox Automotive's Leader in Sustainability Award on Thursday night during Automotive News' 100 Best Dealerships To Work For event here.

The Cleveland Heights, Ohio, store says it has the largest solar array in the U.S. for a dealership.

Motorcars Honda has made several environmentally friendly moves. For instance, the dealership coated its roof with materials that absorb heat -- thus reducing energy needs during winter -- and provides recycling bins for customers and staffers to use.

The Cox award recognizes a dealership for outstanding community contributions and in-dealership sustainability programs related to waste reduction, energy consumption or water conservation, with a focus on innovation, creativity and engagement with the community and/or employees.

"Our dealership includes hybrid vehicles in our loaner fleet for customers to utilize. Motorcars also provides bicycles for our customers to utilize while their vehicle is being serviced," the dealership said in its application for the award. "We also offer 'loaner' bicycles that customers can ride around until their vehicle is serviced."
