Penske will keynote at retail forum

Roger Penske, chairman of an automotive empire that spans three continents, will be a keynote speaker at the Automotive News Retail Forum on March 31, ahead of the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas.

The Retail Forum, devoted to dealer issues, will include panel discussions on who owns the customer data at a dealership and on the state of the dealership buy-sell market.

Penske is the chairman of publicly traded Penske Automotive Group, which operates 174 retail franchises in 18 states and Puerto Rico, plus 171 franchises in Europe.

He also is chairman of closely held Penske Corp., a transportation services company with revenue of more than $16 billion from retail automotive, truck leasing and transportation logistics, including a recent expansion into Australia. It also has a major presence in professional motorsports, where Team Penske has racked up 424 major race wins over the years.

The other keynote speaker will be Steve Young, the former NFL quarterback who is now co-chairman of AutoAlert.
