In a competitive world, it's tough -- but necessary -- to keep improving.

With more dealerships competing to be named among the Best Dealerships To Work For, this year's list shows a considerable shuffling of who ranks where. Compared to last year's list, 23 dealerships moved up while 25 moved down. Two held exactly the same rank.

The other 50 weren't on last year's ranking, although 14 of those were returnees from the 2013 Best Dealerships To Work For list.

Baker Motor Co. of Charleston deserves kudos for moving up three spots to No. 1.

But Royal Palm Nissan also deserves a special salute for surging 60 spots to No. 12. Likewise, Landers Chevrolet leapfrogged 56 spots, to No. 10 this year from No. 66 in 2014.

Eight dealerships jumped 20 or more spots in the ranking while another seven climbed at least 10.

And that three-rung gain by Baker Motor Co.? It was matched by AutoNation Honda South Corpus Christi, up three to No. 18, and Tri-Lakes Motors, up three to No. 96.

4-peat!
