This week saw two automakers try two very different approaches to the classic test drive.
Nissan, no stranger to surprises, left a mysterious giant display in a mall promising visitors the “ride of your life.” When certain visitors pressed a large button, the box revealed a new Nissan Altima. The visitors climbed in with a professional driver and were taken to a track to race against pros. Later, they were given the opportunity to race the Altima themselves, leading to fits of glee and ecstatic howling.
Quite a shock for your everyday visit to the mall. “Ride of Your Life,” enters our rankings at No. 1 with 4,285,326 views.
Ford tried something different.
Promising customers the “ultimate driving challenge,” the automaker loaded up a car with children, gave them snacks, silly string and more and then sent the lucky drivers around a track to experience what driving as a mom is truly like.
“I didn’t like it, really.”
“It definitely makes me appreciate what I put my mother through.”
No word from the children. The Mother’s Day spot ranks third with 2,122,208 views.
Also new this week is Toyota’s “Two Warriors,” ranked fourth by Visible Measures with 934,023 views.
