Toyota, GM bet on alternative powertrains

Toyota's first fuel-cell car debuts in the U.S. next year. General Motors, meanwhile, is planning to offer more diesel-powered vehicles. Executives say the powertrains will be critical pieces in their product arsenals to meet the needs of customers.
