A VW Microbus on the way?

VW's latest Microbus concept, the Bulli, in 2011

Volkswagen plans a lineup of Beetle-themed vehicles, including a new version of the iconic Microbus, according to European press reports.

When VW renews the Beetle in 2019, it also will debut a crossover, coupe and a mini-multipurpose vehicle, all based on the MQB architecture that underpins vehicles, including the new Golf, the reports say.

VW has shown Microbus concepts over the years but hasn't pulled the trigger on a production model. The latest was the electric Bulli concept at the 2011 Geneva auto show.
