BMW names motorcycle exec Blesse as CEO of Canada unit

Hans Blesse has been with BMW since 1987.

Hans Blesse, vice president of BMW Motorrad USA, will replace BMW Group Canada CEO Eduardo Villaverde, beginning the transition immediately and taking the title June 1, the company said today.

Motorrad is BMW’s motorcycle division in the United States. Kris Odwarka, regional aftersales manager, Southern Region, has filled Blesse’s position.

“I thank Eduardo for his years of service to BMW Group, and we all wish him well in his new endeavors,” Ludwig Willisch, CEO of BMW North America, said in a press release.

Villaverde started with BMW in 1995 and headed BMW Group Canada in Richmond Hill, Ontario, since Sept. 1, 2011, after serving as CEO of BMW Spain. The company did not provide the reason for Villaverde’s departure.

Blesse has been with BMW since 1987, beginning his career in the BMW Canada sales subsidiary. He has worked in a variety of offices, including Spain, Germany and the United States.
