George Matick

DETROIT -- George Matick, a retired Chevrolet dealer, died Feb. 9. He was 86.

Matick, who started in the parts department at his father's Dodge dealership here, purchased a Chevrolet store in Detroit in 1967. Looking to expand, he moved the store to Redford, Mich., in 1977.

Matick retired from day-to-day involvement in 1998 and sold his remaining stake in George Matick Chevrolet to son-in-law Karl Zimmermann in 2008.
