Whit Whitmire, BMW, Honda, Saab dealer, dies at 88

ATLANTA -- Whit Whitmire, who founded Global Imports BMW in Atlanta in the 1960s, died Dec. 26. He was 88. At age 16, Whitmire sold his first car -- a black 1929 Ford Model A -- for $25 after buying it six months earlier for $15. He eventually handled a number of other brands, including Honda and Saab.
