FROM OUR ARCHIVES: Seeking MPG in the Ford C-Max hybrid

After buying a C-Max hybrid and logging more than a thousand miles, Automotive News reporter Larry Vellequette was only averaging about 37 miles per gallon -- far from the compact hybrid's EPA rating of 47 city/47 highway/47 combined. In October 2012, Ford's chief engineer for the C-Max, John Davis, rode along with Vellequette and offered tips to get more mileage out of the car.
