Maxie Price Sr.
ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. -- Maxie Price Sr., a car dealer in the Atlanta area for many years, died Jan. 20. He was 77.
He began his career in the 1950s selling used cars and owned a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in Lawrenceville, Ga., for several years. In the 1980s, Price bought the store that became Maxie Price Chevrolet in Loganville, Ga.
He retired in 2005 for health reasons. Sons Maxie Price Jr. and Scott Price now run the dealership.
Willie Racine
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Willie Racine, a longtime Jeep dealer here, died Feb. 9. He was 89.
Racine and his wife, Annette, started Willie Racine's Jeep in 1967. He retired in 1989. His three sons and a grandson have run the store for many years.
Joseph Allen Sartain
DECATUR, Ala. -- Joseph Allen Sartain, a longtime Ford dealer, died Feb. 17. He was 78. He owned Joe Sartain Ford in Decatur from 1974 until he retired in 2011.
Phil Smart Sr.
SEATTLE -- Phil Smart Sr., a longtime car dealer and civic leader, died Feb. 8. He was 93.
He started selling cars in the early 1950s in Seattle and eventually built Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz, which he operated for several decades.
Smart was active in the Boy Scouts of America and the Seattle Rotary Club. He also was a volunteer at Seattle Children's Hospital for 46 years, according to a tribute on the hospital's Web site.
In 2007, Smart received a distinguished service citation from the Automotive Hall of Fame.
