Georgetown leads Jan. output

The Top 10 assembly plants in North America in terms of vehicle output in January were Toyota Georgetown, Ky., 46,065; Honda Marysville, Ohio, 40,601; Honda Alliston, Ontario, 38,292; Volkswagen Puebla, Mexico, 36,319; Hyundai Montgomery, Ala., 34,100; Nissan Smyrna, Tenn., 33,870; Chrysler Belvidere, Ill., 33,271; General Motors Silao, Mexico, 32,206; Nissan Cuernavaca, Mexico, 32,002; and Ford Dearborn (Mich.) Truck Assembly, 31,753.

Output at GM's Silao plant surged 88 percent from a year earlier, which moved the factory up 31 positions. Honda's Alliston plant built 449 fewer units than a year earlier, making it the only top 10 plant that lost production from January 2012. Yet it rose in the ranking to third from fourth.
