What do you get when you take a piece of Toyota corporate stationery and roll up one end like a toilet-paper tube? It's the new look of Toyota's global motor show stand.

Toyota calls it The Wave. And, in all fairness, it's a clean, simple motif that exudes an air of modernity and artistry.

The design was inspired by origami, the traditional Japanese craft of folding paper. Says Toyota: "The form is defined by a series of dynamic curves, giving the stand strength and vibrancy and at the same time warmth and familiarity."

Judging by a rendering circulated by Toyota, the white backdrop will curl diagonally into the stand, like a surfer's wave ready to break. The red Toyota logo rides the lip of the crest.

The stand will debut at next month's Geneva auto show. Toyota is calling it the new "global" stand design. But it says it will adapt the look to regional preferences at other shows.
