When Andy Goss moved from Great Britain to New Jersey two years ago to become president of Jaguar Land Rover North America, there were a couple of things he says he didn't understand: baseball and the weather.

"I must admit when I moved to the United States, I didn't absolutely understand why all the retailers here were saying they needed all-wheel drive," Goss said in a speech at the Chicago Auto Show. "But after living in the Northeast the last two years, with two hurricanes and an earthquake, and fighting snowstorms in New Jersey, Detroit, Chicago and Denver, I have come to a deeper understanding of America and its weather."

The experience helped push Jaguar into introducing its first awd sedans: the 2013 XJ and XF, which debuted in Chicago last week.

But Goss, a native of Manchester, England, confessed: "I still struggle with baseball."
