ORLANDO -- Three generations of the family behind Colussy Chevrolet in Bridgeville, Pa., outside of Pittsburgh, are at this year's NADA convention: Tim, 55, the dealer principal; his father, Skip, 84, who remains part owner; and Tim's son, Dan, 22, who is learning the ropes in the parts department.

Skip is no stranger to NADA -- the dealership was founded in 1918.

His first trip as a dealer came after he returned from the Korean War, but his father brought him and his sister to a convention in Florida before then -- probably 1948, he says.

For Tim, it's the first time back to the NADA gathering in eight years. He decided to come this time, he says, in part because he likes Orlando and the proximity to his home base and because he likes Orlando. He also brought his wife and daughter.

But part of the decision was pure business. Tim wanted to catch up on some of the new technology in automotive retailing. After a brief lunch in the food court, he was heading to a meeting with a vendor wanting to help the dealership with its online reputation management.

It’s a family affair: Skip Colussy, center, 84, and his son Tim, 55, and grandson Dan, 22.
