To the Editor:
It's time for Detroit to have an automotive showplace worthy of the Motor City.
What better way to do that than with a site like the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, Germany? For those who have not been there, Wolfsburg is the home of Volkswagen. On its property, there is a beautiful campus with museum-style buildings highlighting the history of VW's brands. The place is amazing and a huge tourist attraction.
Why not do the same type of thing in Detroit? The Detroit 3 and maybe others such as the UAW and some large automotive suppliers from Detroit could have showplace buildings on the campus to highlight their rich history.
This type of showplace can demonstrate to the world that the U.S. automotive industry is back and can become a center to reinvigorate tourism in Detroit.
