N.A. output dips in Dec.

North American car and truck production in December slipped 2 percent from December 2011, to 1,023,166 units. It was the first monthly year-to-year decline in 19 months. December 2012 had two fewer production days than December 2011.

Car production dropped 1 percent in the United States, 16 percent in Canada and 7 percent in Mexico. North American car output fell 5 percent.

Truck output was essentially unchanged in the United States, down 11 percent in Canada and up 12 percent in Mexico. North American truck output fell less than 1 percent.

Vehicle output fell less than 1 percent in the United States, rose less than 1 percent in Mexico and dropped 13 percent in Canada.
