Lynn Hickey

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Lynn Hickey, former owner of Lynn Hickey Dodge here, died Dec. 14. He was 74.

Hickey started his automotive career washing cars at a Ford dealership. In 1970, he opened the Dodge store.

A 1993 story in Automotive News described the store’s high-volume sales, supported by “attention to customer service and high-profile marketing campaigns, including almost circus-atmosphere stunts.”

In 1996, Lynn Hickey Dodge was acquired by Cross-Continent Auto Retailers Inc., the first publicly held dealership group, which was based in Amarillo, Texas.
