ATLANTA -- Manheim, the nation's largest auto auction company, purchased Ready Auto Transport, a vehicle transportation company.
Joe George, Manheim senior vice president of product development, says the transportation company offers Manheim customers two ways to use its services.
First, a dealer who buys a vehicle on a Manheim online remarketing channel can click a button on the site to get a price quote from Ready Auto to transport the vehicle. If the dealer accepts the price, the company handles the rest, coordinating the pick-up and transportation.
Second, the deal also includes the acquisition of 1dispatch.com, a Web site where dealers can post vehicles they need to transport along with information about pick-up and drop-off. Trucking companies from around the country can view the listings and bid on the work, George says.
Ready Auto Transport will continue to operate as an independent business from its headquarters in Mesa, Ariz.
