TOKYO — Nissan Executive Vice President Colin Dodge, the multitasking head of global operations in the Americas, Europe and emerging markets, as well as chief performance officer in charge of reaching mid-term business goals, is lightening his workload, partly so he can focus more on the United States.

Dodge will hand off responsibility for Africa, Middle East, India and the European region to Trevor Mann, effective Jan. 1, Nissan said today.

The reshuffle leaves Dodge with a portfolio overseeing business in North and South America as well as chief performance officer.

"Most people see him as an incredibly important part of the organization," spokesman Jeff Kuhlman said. "This gives him the opportunity to focus more on the American situation."

North America plays a key role in Nissan's mid-term business plan, with CEO Carlos Ghosn targeting 10 percent U.S. market share in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017.

Mann, now senior vice president in charge of supply chain management, will be promoted to executive vice president and add the role as chairman of Europe and emerging markets to his current purchasing and supply chain duties.
