GM's Akerson: Employees are 'agents of change'

December 7, 2012 - 12:01 am ET

General Motors CEO Dan Akerson is convinced employees are starting to feel empowered. The 64-year-old says, “Nothing motivates people like a bankruptcy.” Akerson continues to put his stamp on the automaker by streamlining product development, bringing information technology in-house and making Cadillac a global brand. While Akerson is bullish on U.S. sales in 2013, he says the growth could be disrupted if the U.S. falls off the so-called “fiscal cliff.”
