The redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Impala sedan will be the first vehicle to use the brand's second-generation version of the MyLink infotainment system, complete with new software and user interface.
Users can choose among four preloaded themes to change the look of the system in the center stack and a display in the gauge cluster. Chevrolet said it studied smartphones, tablets and sports graphics to help develop the themes.
The new MyLink accepts natural language voice commands and can link to the Internet via smartphones. A 60-entry memory can store radio stations, navigation destinations and contacts. Up to 10 devices can be connected to the system via Bluetooth or a USB port.
Users can use tablet-style drag and swipe gestures to page through lists on the optional 8-inch display, similar to the Cadillac User Experience infotainment system launched on the 2013 Cadillac XTS sedan. The base version of MyLink uses a 4.2-inch display.
