The venerable Buick logo, whose three shields evoke medieval knights and heraldry, might be changed.

The Detroit Free Press quoted Mark Reuss, General Motors' North American president, last week as saying that the automaker may update the badge. A GM spokesman declined to confirm or deny the report.

The three-shield logo is an adaptation of the ancestral coat of arms of the automaker's founder, David Dunbar Buick, according to Buick historian Lawrence Gustin.
