GAZ Group's Andersson to address Congress

Bo Andersson, CEO of Russia's GAZ Group and former purchasing chief at General Motors, will be a dinner keynote speaker on Jan. 15, the first day of the 2013 Automotive News World Congress.

Andersson, 57, began his career with GM in 1987 as a manager with Saab. After holding various leadership positions, he was promoted to vice president of purchasing for General Motors Europe in 1997.

In 1999, he returned to GM in North America as executive in charge of worldwide purchasing. Eight years later he was promoted to GM group vice president of global purchasing and supply chain, responsible for the automaker's global purchasing, supplier quality, logistics, order fulfillment and supply operations.

In 2009, he was appointed president and CEO of GAZ Group.

The theme of the 2013 Automotive News World Congress is "Driving Change: Global Uncertainties/Local Opportunities."

The event will be held Jan. 15-17 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center during media preview week at the North American International Auto Show.
