Tom Burns


OCEAN CITY, N.J. -- Tom Burns, former executive director of administration and planning for Ford Motor Co.'s styling and design center, died Oct. 21. He was 89.

According to his family, Burns was recruited to Ford in 1952 by J. Edward Lundy, one of Ford's original Whiz Kids and the automaker's longtime CFO. Burns held various financial and administrative positions in automotive design during his career and retired in 1980.

Four of Burns' eight children have a combined 130 years of management service to Ford.
