The next step in General Motors' marketing campaign that leads to the reveal of the redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Corvette took place Thursday with the release of a 47-second teaser video, titled "Conception."
Corvette exterior designer Kirk Bennion gets a turn in front of the camera, along with plenty of quick cuts of the new Corvette covered in camouflage, work on a clay model, and shots of the General Motors wind tunnel.
In the video, Bennion says: "Performance cars are definitely all about form follows function. But I would say beautiful form follows performance-driven function."
And that's the theme for the new Corvette, which is set to debut on Jan. 13 on the eve of press preview days for the Detroit auto show.
The Corvette team has already said that the new Corvette will be powered by a new-generation small block V8 displacing 6.2 liters and cranking out at least 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. And that's the base engine.
The next teaser video in the series, titled "Calibration," is set to be released in two weeks, on Nov. 29. Information about the new Corvette and the videos are being posted on the one13thirteen.com Web site.
