Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally will be one of a dozen American corporate leaders meeting with President Barack Obama Wednesday to discuss ways to control the federal deficit, the White House said Monday.
A Ford spokeswoman confirmed Mulally's attendance today.
Unless Congress acts, a combination of tax increases and government spending cuts dubbed the fiscal cliff will take effect Jan. 1, reducing the deficit but posing a danger to the U.S. economy.
Other leaders invited to the meeting are from IBM, Aetna, Xerox, American Express, Honeywell, Wal-Mart, General Electric, Dow Chemical, Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo. and Chevron.
Labor and civic leaders are meeting with Obama today about the same topic.
