North American car and truck production in October rose 16 percent from a year earlier to an estimated 1,484,816 units. It was the highest monthly total of 2012.

Car production rose 31 percent in the United States, 7 percent in Canada and 2 percent in Mexico. Total North American car output rose 19 percent.

Truck output climbed 8 percent in the United States and 27 percent in both Canada and Mexico. North American truck production increased 13 percent.

Vehicle output rose 17 percent in the United States, 18 percent in Canada and 11 percent in Mexico.
