At Crevier BMW, keeping employees healthy is top priority.
Happy, healthy employees have ample energy, are more productive and are less likely to be absent, says Al Parajeckas, general manager of Crevier BMW.
At an annual health fair in January, Crevier offers free cholesterol and blood pressure tests, flu shots, body-fat analyses and chiropractic consultations.
Yoga and fitness experts are on hand. In a Biggest Loser weight-loss challenge, the winner can take home up to $500.
To help keep all employees' health-conscious, Parajeckas has motivational speakers come to the store to give talks about health and nutrition.
There is a cafe at the dealership that serves healthful meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And then there are the regular weekly massages. That's right, massages.
"Every Friday we have a massage therapist here," Parajeckas says. "The therapist is up in our conference room, and employees get 15-minute massages. It fills up every single week."
Community service is also a priority.
Every other Wednesday, employees volunteer to do one hour of reading to students at a Los Angeles elementary school. It's paid time and includes their hour lunch break.
