PARIS -- Fiat and Mazda could expand their cooperation on a two-seat roadster to include joint development of other models as well, said Chrysler-Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne.

The project to co-develop successors to the Alfa Romeo Spider and Mazda MX-5 Miata is still in its early stages. But Marchionne said the two companies could cooperate on additional vehicles.

"They're available, and so are we," he said at the auto show here last month.

The roadster project, announced in May, will use a Mazda-engineered platform as the basis of both vehicles, with distinct exterior and interior styling for each brand. Sales are expected to begin in 2015.
