Sterling Group to buy Dexter Axle for $360 million

DENVER -- An affiliate of Sterling Group of Houston has agreed to purchase Dexter Axle in a deal worth $360 million. Dexter Axle produces trailer axles, brakes and suspension assemblies, plus replacement parts. The parties expect to complete the deal late this year. Dexter Axle is based in Elkhart, Ind. Sterling Group is a private equity investment firm that manages $1.2 billion of capital.
