Carl Rotman

MAQUOKETA, Iowa -- Carl Rotman, a longtime Lincoln-Mercury-GMC dealer here, died Sept. 27. He was 90.

According to a 1997 profile in Automotive News, Rotman went to work at a Studebaker dealership in Dubuque, Iowa, the day after graduating from high school. He worked there until 1949, except for his time in the military.

Not long afterward he bought a Studebaker dealership in Maquoketa and renamed it Rotman Motor Co. He added Lincoln and Mercury and later GMC.

Rotman sold the business to Tom Timmerman in 2000.
