U.S. engineering consulting firm Ricardo Inc. has named longtime Magna executive Thomas Apostolos as its new president.

Apostolos, 50, spent 19 years at Canadian supplier Magna International Inc., most recently as president of Magna Exteriors and Interiors Asia Pacific. Before that, he was global president of Magna’s interiors unit. Before joining Magna, Apostolos held engineering and management positions at General Motors.

Apostolos replaces Kent Niederhofer, who was named president on Jan. 1, 2010. Niederhofer will leave the company Oct. 31 after assisting with the transition.

When asked for more information about Niederhofer’s departure, a company spokeswoman said she had no further information.

Apostolos will report directly to Ricardo CEO Dave Shemmans.

Ricardo Inc. is a unit of Ricardo PLC of the United Kingdom.
