Automotive News Europe's 2012 Eurostars distinguished themselves through their ability to beat expectations and their willingness to take risks.

Under CEO Carlos Ghosn, Renault set a company record for global sales in 2011, and Nissan achieved an all-time high for European sales. The alliance partners also solidified their position in fast-growing Russia and became a leader in electric cars.

Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller guided the sports car brand to record sales and profit. Through an aggressive model expansion, Porsche aims to double sales to 200,000 by 2018.

The other 12 Eurostars chosen by the editors of Automotive News Europe achieved equally impressive results in the face of challenges. Automotive News Europe, PwC and Siemens honored the winners at an awards dinner on Sept. 26 in Paris.
