Ford prices 2013 Fusion from $22,495

Ford is offering three gasoline-powered versions of the Fusion as well as a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Ford said Tuesday the Fusion hybrid gets 47 miles per gallon on the highway and in the city, topping the Camry hybrid.

Ford Motor Co. has priced the redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion mid-sized sedan starting at $22,495, including shipping, the company said today.

Ford says the base price is identical to the base price of the outgoing 2012, even though the redesigned sedan comes with an additional $600 worth of content.

The base model comes with a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.

Ford started shipping the 2013 Fusion to U.S. dealerships last week.

Ford also offers stop-start technology, which automatically shuts off the engine at stationary idle to preserve fuel during stop-and-go city driving, for $295. That option, which is available only with a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, is being offered for the first time in a Ford passenger car in the United States.

Sticker prices top out at $38,665, including shipping, for a Titanium version with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive.

Ford offers awd as a $2,000 option.
