Gordon Clark


CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- Longtime truck manufacturing executive Gordon Clark, who played major sales roles at Freightliner and Detroit Diesel in the 1980s and 1990s, died Sept. 2. He was 90.

Clark joined Daimler-Benz AG as a consultant in 1980 and was later appointed senior vice president of sales and marketing for Daimler’s truck unit, Freightliner Corp.

In 1989, he joined Penske Corp. to help re-establish its Detroit Diesel unit as a leader in heavy-duty truck engines in North America. He retired from Penske in 2005 at age 83.
