A spy photo, snapped recently in suburban Detroit, is believed to show a camouflaged test mule version of Cadillac’s ELR plug-in hybrid. General Motors design chief Ed Welburn says the coupe’s design hews closely to the Converj concept shown at the 2009 Detroit auto show. Its powertrain will borrow from the Chevrolet Volt. Some future buyers “will want that car because of its technology,” Welburn says, while its “killer design” will appeal to others. GM has said it will launch the car next year.
