N.A. output up 17% in Aug.

North America car and truck production rose 17 percent in August from the same month last year to 1,465,397 units. That extended the record string of year-over-year gains to 34 months.

Car production rose 36 percent in the United States, 6 percent in Canada and 5 percent in Mexico. North American car output climbed 23 percent.

Truck output increased 6 percent in the United States, 36 percent in Canada and 22 percent in Mexico. North American truck production rose 12 percent.

Vehicle output was up 17 percent in the United States, 21 percent in Canada and 11 percent in Mexico.
