LOS ANGELES -- American Suzuki's product plans are murky at best.

The company confirms freshenings for the 2013 Grand Vitara SUV and SX4 subcompact, and dealers expect those vehicles to arrive this fall. But sources with knowledge of Suzuki's product plans say that the 2015 model year will be the soonest that any major changes to Suzuki's lineup arrive stateside.

Here's what Suzuki has planned through the 2015 model year, from company and other sources:

Kizashi: With little marketing and advertising support, the Kizashi has failed to be the savior Suzuki had hoped for when the mid-sized sedan launched in 2010. The company has considered turbocharged and mild-hybrid variants, but no such versions are scheduled.

No significant changes are planned for the Kizashi until the 2015 model year, when it may get a restyling if the company follows traditional product planning cycles.

SX4: The subcompact gets a new bumper and infotainment system for the 2013 model, which arrives this fall.

Spy photographers recently caught the next-generation SX4 being tested in Europe. A U.S. release as a 2015 model is possible, sources say.

Equator: Nissan is still building the Equator pickup, a rebadged Nissan Frontier, for Suzuki. No changes to the vehicle for upcoming model years are known.

Grand Vitara: A next-generation Grand Vitara SUV may arrive as a 2015 model, but in what form is unclear. A source with knowledge of Suzuki's product plans said the company has considered a variety of options, among them an almost wagonlike small crossover based on the Kizashi platform or a new body built on a stretched version of the SX4.
