Suzuki is recalling more than 100,000 model year 2004-2006 Forenzas and model year 2005-2006 Renos for possible headlight failure.

A malfunction in the vehicles’ wiring system can result in the partial or total loss of the low-beam and high-beam headlights, Suzuki said in a letter posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Web site on Monday. The recall will affect 101,688 vehicles.

“This would result in reduced driver visibility while driving at night , increasing the risk of a crash,” Suzuki wrote in the letter.

This is the second time in recent years Suzuki has recalled Forenzas and Renos from similar model years for headlight malfunctions. In 2007, the company recalled about 94,000 of the vehicles for faulty running lights and low-beam headlights, The New York Times reported.

Kenneth Bush, Suzuki’s associate director for government relations, told the Times that the 2007 recalls were caused by a different faulty wire.

Suzuki decided to investigate the current recall issue after 10 complaints about failing headlights were made by drivers in Canada to Transport Canada, that country’s regulatory body.
