July output jumps 30%

North American car and truck production in July rose 30 percent from July 2011 to 1,079,401 units. It was the highest July total since at least 1991 and only the second time since then that July production has reached 1 million units.

Car production rose 64 percent in the United States and 33 percent in Mexico but slipped 1 percent in Canada. North American car output rose 43 percent.

Truck output climbed 19 percent in the United States, 11 percent in Mexico and 55 percent in Canada. North American truck output increased 21 percent.

Vehicle output rose 34 percent in the United States, 26 percent in Canada and 24 percent in Mexico.
