James Medeiros Sr.


BOSTON -- James Medeiros Sr., who owned Peabody Chrysler-Jeep Automotive Sales in Peabody, Mass., for nearly three decades, died June 13 in Danvers, Mass. He was 91. Medeiros sold the business when he retired in 2007.

Ed Morse


BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Ed Morse, founder of a Florida dealership group, died June 29. He was 91.

In 1946, Morse and his father, Alex, founded a car rental company, which eventually merged with National Car Rental.

In 1961, Ed Morse bought into a Ford dealership in Miami. In 1968, he launched Ed Morse Chevrolet in Lauderhill and Ed Morse Bayview Cadillac in Fort Lauderdale.

The group added 28 dealerships through the 1980s and 1990s. Today, Ed Morse Automotive Group says it owns 15 stores throughout the state.

Morse retired as CEO of the group in 2006 but remained chairman. His son, Ted, now leads the dealership group.
