George Dexter


KENTFIELD, Calif. -- George Dexter, 88, a multifranchise dealer in California's Marin County, died June 7.

Dexter acquired his first dealership, Dexter Rambler in San Rafael, Calif., in 1958, after working as a car salesman on San Francisco's downtown auto row. In the following decades, he helped develop Marin County's auto retail community, opening or acquiring dealerships and selling BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Datsun, Excalibur, Hillman, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jensen, Lincoln, Mercury, MG, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, GMC, Toyota, Triumph and Volvo vehicles.
