Mitsubishi builds stop-start test lab in Michigan

DETROIT -- Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America Inc. has built a test lab for stop-start systems in suburban Detroit. The lab will enable the company to test as many as 10 engines simultaneously. The lab can analyze the performance of engines ranging from 1 liter to 15 liters in volume. Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America makes starters for stop-start systems.

The company, of Mason, Ohio, ranks No. 45 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 suppliers to North America with an estimated $1.2 billion in parts sales to automakers in fiscal 2011.
