Hendrick Automotive Group is renaming its eight Kansas City-area dealerships over the next 10 months.
The dealerships' names will change from "Superior" to "Hendrick," the company said in a statement Wednesday.
Hendrick, of Charlotte, N.C., operates 8 dealerships in the Kansas City area representing Volvo, Lexus, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Acura, Nissan, Toyota and Scion.
Hendrick is changing its stores' names after renovations and the openings of several new locations, the company said. For example, Superior Toyota and Superior Scion are now called Hendrick Toyota Merriam and Hendrick Scion Merriam after moving to a new location on June 18, the company said.
Hendrick acquired its first dealership in Kansas City in 1992.
The retail group is ranked No. 6 among Automotive News' top 125 U.S. dealership groups with 69,676 new retail units sold in 2011.
