DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. today detailed plans for the freshened 2013 F-150's new top-of-the-line trim level, and for the truck's top off-road trim level, seeking to take advantage of rising demand for high-end pickups.

The F-150 Limited, available in dealerships this fall, will surpass the Harley-Davidson and Platinum trims atop the F-150 line, Ford said.

More than 30 percent of F-150s sold are luxury models, Ford said. And the automaker's latest move is a signal that it thinks the market is growing.

"The F-150 Limited reflects a growing trend -- more and more customers today have high expectations for luxury and convenience, yet their needs call for a truly capable truck," Raj Nair, Ford's head of product development, said in a statement.

Pricing has yet to be released, but the 2012 F-150 Harley-Davidson costs $50,025, including shipping.

Red and black trim

The 2013 truck will feature red and black leather seats, as well as aluminum trim that accents the center console and panel.

Sitting on 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, the Limited will be available in three colors -- red, black and white -- that will match the wheels' center caps and other exterior trim elements.

The Limited will be powered by a 3.5-liter Ti-VCT EcoBoost engine that will get 22 mpg on the highway, Ford said.

Ford has yet to release pricing for the 2013 SVT Raptor, which also goes on sale this fall.

2013 SVT Raptor

Ford also released plans for the 2013 F-150 SVT Raptor, the nameplate's off-roading trim.

Consumers will be able to upgrade to beadlock wheels better suited for off-road driving. The beadlock wheels connect the tire edges to the wheels so the tires will not come off when drivers deflate them for extra traction while off-roading, say on sand.

Ford has yet to release pricing for the SVT Raptor, which also goes on sale this fall.

Through May, Ford says SVT Raptor sales are up 20 percent from the year-earlier period.

Overall F-series pickup sales through May rose 15 percent to 246,116.
