Dealer Dick Mullen at 75: No games with customers

June 25, 2012 - 12:01 am ET

Long Island Chrysler dealer Dick Mullen, 75, has survived the automaker's near-death experiences by maintaining generations of loyal customers. That means offering his home phone number to buyers who might have a problem after the sale. Mullen takes issue with stores that put shoppers in a 'rubber room' when closing a deal. And he scoffs at factory-directed renovation programs, saying 'people don't give a damn' about showrooms as long as their car runs right.
